Santa came early to the Magyar's. WE GOT A NEW CAR!!!!

It is a Rav 4 in Black Forest Pearl. (which means it is black at times but in the sun- it changes from grey to green to teal.) We love the new wheels and it has Blue tooth technology, 3rd row seating and XM radio. Super Fun! Come over for a ride! p.s. This is the same car Kerri has in Germany and Mom also last drove a Rav4.

Ryan has been in town for a couple weeks and he was a great help in the making of the dragon! Kyle flew in for the big day and helped with the preparations! We were so lucky to have Gigi and Cate come play with the kids - it was a BLAST but went all too fast.

Here is the finished product. This monstrous nightmare was at Emmett's 5th Birthday party and he had a blast jumping on the bag belly! This was made with love by: Emmett, Kenzie Ryan, Wes, Steve & Heather Magyar and Judy Chandler sewed the wings!

We (Wes, Myself, Steve and Ryan) decided to make a paper mache dragon for Emmett's birthday. We had no idea it would be so much fun, so involved or so BIG!!!! 16 feet 9 inches long- wingspan approx 23 feet.

He will be able to be "flown" from his bean bag body and will have functional dry ice vapor coming from his nostrils. This is the most fun I have had making sculpture in a long time and I will be excited when it is done! Here are some photos of the making of the Dragon.

Emmett graduated from preschool yesterday. It was quite adorable. It is the end of our time together at the school where I work, which is bittersweet. I am so thankful that his Kindergarten is something to look forward to. He is so bright and sweet and we are endlessly proud of him.

Emmett update

Emmett has been a great friend in his preschool. He has learned to stick up for his friends and walk away from kids who are being too rough. He has a great sense of humor and enjoys telling jokes, especially ones that make no sense because he made them up himself. Emmett has been accepted into a british primary kindergarten which we are extremely excited about. He has impressed the staff with his personality, patience and charm and they can't wait to have him in their school. He will start late August and has received a full scholarship to attend. This school is rich with arts, sciences and hands on learning. They use mixed age groups in the classrooms so he will be with k,1,2 grades. This family grouping is ideal for learning from peers and gives him the opportunity to teach others and learn from others. They will do lots of investigating and exploring their interests and never have to sit at a desk or do a CSAP!!!! We are so proud of him and know his education will help him succeed in all his endeavors.

I know I haven't posted in a while. SORRY! Here is a little update on little Z:

Kenzie is talking up a storm. Full sentences, (4-5 words together) repeats anything you say, can dress and undress herself almost completely by herself. She gave up her pacifier on her own accord after we returned from Germany. She also had to give up "mommy milkie", which she is still unhappy about. She has been dry at night for 5 days in a row and goes in the potty when she wakes up! She knows every part of her body- chin, forehead, eyebrow, etc. She can tell knock knock jokes and makes them up too! (part of being a sibling to a 4 1/2 yr old boy) also the punch line is almost always "Butt", another by-product of sibling-hood. She has slept through the night 3 times in her whole life, but we are working on it and talking to a sleep specialist to make sure it happens more often. She is learning her colors and her alphabet, she can count to two (which is good since she will turn two soon!) We are so proud of her and celebrate her accomplishments!!!!

Kenzie and I went to visit Kerri, Phillip and baby Royal in Germany. They live in a small town, Kusel in the hills of SW Germany. It is quaint and quiet and COLD! It snowed a lot while we were there and the temperatures kept us from doing much outdoors. We had plans to travel more but with the car breaking down, the stomach flu attacking us, the weather and waiting for Royal's passport in the mail we didn't go to far. (That just gives me an excuse to go back!) We did go to Heidelberg Castle and we ate at an amazing restaurant at a castle in Kusel as well. Here are a few pics of our trip.

We had a two foot snow storm early on this year. It melted within 2 days but it was pretty and very fun for the kids. I ran out to get boots and mittens the next day. The kids just wanted to eat the snow- so we helped the sun giving it less to melt.

Kenzie was a delicious strawberry when we trick or treated Colfax during the day. She turned into a sweet bat after dark. Emmett was a hybrid of Spiderman, Batman and a Darth Vader light saber. We went to the Sloane's for Dinner and trickery our fourth annual halloween together. Myles was a ninja this year and Jessie was a bumble bee. SO CUTE. After treats Emmett and Myles wore the same p.j.'s - They loved being pajama brothers.

We are so proud of our intelligent, adorable, creative four year old. He asked for a Dinosaur birthday because it is his latest obsession. He knows a lot about them too. In fact he impressed the volunteers at the local science museum with his knowledge about dinosaur bones. We asked him what he wants to be when he gets older and he quickly replied..."Everything!" A paleontologist, a fireman, an animal trainer, even a zoo keeper that scoops poop; apparently he wants to do all of it! Anyway, he had a great birthday party and we had fun too! We had a dinosaur egg hunt, a volcano cake, dino cupcakes and amazing dinosaur gifts! Emmett received a scooter, plastic dinos, a plaster dino set, books, a dino transformer, a cool jungle night light and many other wonderful things! THANKS!

Emmett took swim lessons for 4 weeks this summer. He can hold his breath and go under water, blow bubbles, kick, do scoops, use a kick board with help and float on his back for a bit unassisted!

Emmett and Cian went to Dinosaur and Insect Camp at the Denver Botanic Gardens. It was really cool and Emmett was the main informer of the class- he is so smart and loves to participate. G'Dad sent this super soft adorable elephant to Kenzie.

Kenzie loves elephants like Emmett loved Kitty at this age. I thought I

would attempt to write out the things Kenzie can do so here it goes...

She says...momma, dada, hi, hat, tickle, baby, bye

Her noises....Lion, Dinosaur, ELEPHANT, a refreshing "Ahhh!" after she drinks,

motor boat, meow, car noise, can use her fingers to vibrate her lips (brrrr).

Her signs: elephant, giraffe, lion, hat, water, want, train, milk, music,

wave hello and good bye.

she can: WALK!!! crawl up the stairs, brush her 2 teeth, kiss her baby,

tickle Emmett, jump in her crib, dance, sing, play drums and guitar,

blow a train whistle, play sax o flute, "cook", put toys in a basket,

wrestle, feed herself and share food with others, stand and squat unsupported.

She is a very silly, happy girl and a joy to spend time with- we are looking forward to her first birthday this week!

Well, again running late on this post BUT Kenzie started crawling officially on March 19th - her 10 month mark. She loves to hold hands and walk, make funny noises, she can pull to stand at the coffee table and starting to cruise the furniture. She still has a funny crawl but it works for her and she is getting faster every day. She had her second ear infection this last week and she has had a few haircuts already but only by me. She needs another bang cut this week, actually. She is a very happy little girl and is starting to sleep better (but that is not saying much). She would rather we did NOT cut up her food anymore. Here she got away with a whole apple. She is also a major music lover, especially DRUMS. She is a wonderful singer though, too.

We HAD to go sledding this season so we bought a couple sleds and headed to Littleton to sled at the Magyar's baby hill. Kenzie's FIRST sledding experience! Emmett had fun throwing snowballs at grandpa.

This is late but we wanted to post these anyway. Kenzie eats everything she can. She loves pizza, lentils, veggies, bagels, hummus, mangos, grapes, lasagna, crackers, yogurt...oh the list goes on and on! Kenzie is sitting, clapping and making some great new sounds. zerberts, airplane or rocket sounds and a roar! She can sign more, milk and drink from a sippy cup (holding it herself now). She LOVES music, especially dad's keyboard and drumming. She is becoming more ticklish and is very close to crawling. ( still going backwards) She pulls herself up on furniture. We love her soooo much. Here is the 9 month photo shoot. Did I mention how expressive she is?

I cut a lot of hair off for Locks of Love this week. It feels good to help out and financially, this is the only way I could donate right now. Kerri used to donate blood and plasma but I think my monthly blood draws for my thyroid is all I can handle with that right now.

Another tooth for Kenzie. She got the second bottom front tooth a day or so ago. She also clapped, and spent some time in the sandbox for the first time. We have had record high temps this Feb. so we tried to take advantage of the nice weather. Emmett is starting to sight read, unbelievable. He also has been singled out by his teachers as a really good friend and a smart, empathetic boy. He continues to make us laugh and beam with pride.

Kenzie is saying mama, dada and a word that means brother "bra-bra"! She also got her first tooth on Jan 18th. She is sitting so well but has yet to roll over consistently or crawl but she partially pushes up on all fours. Her "milk" sign is also clear and very meaningful now.

Kenzie turned 8 months this week! She is a very happy little girl. She LOVES her big brother, and says "bra bra" to get his attention. She sits independently for a few minutes without help and has gotten her first tooth! (January 18th) I have heard her say dada, lala, mmmm, and a few other sounds. She has started to sign "more" and "milk" but not consistently. She rolled over (once). She loves to jump and stand holding on to things. She enjoys playing with her toys and Emmett's toys. She loves music and playing instruments with her daddy. She has managed to eat paper a few times but we try to keep her diet to crackers, cheerios and a large assortment of fruits and veggies via baby food. She is a very good eater and she can sleep waking only once/twice at night. Emmett and Kenzie share a room so often they wake each other up and present us with challenges and daily exhaustion. She still naps 3 or 4 times a day, which has it's drawbacks and benefits. Emmett and I would like to get out to play more often but, it is nice to be home. Emmett actually started napping again, to be like Kenzie. Well, I think that is all our news right now. :)

Let me explain. We were very sick for weeks so we had to make our own fun. Emmett had cabin fever and I was giving him ideas as to what to do besides tv. I mentioned we could make crafts so we made handprint Santa's and then we made handprint reindeer antlers. Then he wanted to dress up like a reindeer- then he wanted to pull santa's sleigh well you get the idea...

We got a new camera for Xmas and I have been a little slow downloading the software on my laptop to upload the photos to blogger. So, I apologize and leave you in anticipation but we had a wonderful holiday season despite ALL of us being sick. We had pink eye (some of us twice), the flu, high fevers, sore throats, a bad cough, a runny nose, sinus infections and Emmett even had a chest x-ray on Dec 26th for pneumonia. (which was negative) So we have been under the weather and busy getting better which is my second excuse for not updating the blog. My third excuse is that my Dad and Brother's family sent us XBOX 360 and we are addicted to Rock Band. Anyway, our holiday was overwhelmingly wonderful and we were showered with blessings and gifts. The children had a blast and Emmett really enjoyed waiting for Santa this year. He LOVES his new bike, his big dino, and his batman costume. (which he loves to tell people it fell off Santa's sleigh so we had to wait an extra day for it to come in the mail.) Kenzie got a few new toys which she is sitting up to play with and received a few ADORABLE dresses and outfits which we have worn even though we haven't left the house. We also did a big family Xmas eve dinner at The Briarwood Inn in Golden, which was lovely and we got some great family photos. Hoping I can get them all on here today so check back soon. I apologize this has taken so long to post... most of you have already gotten the information through Herrmania.com or Facebook but I wanted to let you know I am excited about being an Aunt again. Catherine Olivia Herrman arrived Dec 13, 2008 at 7 lb 12 oz.

She is beautiful and Georgia, mom and dad are all doing well!

Emmett earned some new BATMAN underoos for being potty trained. He has been in big boy underwear for over two weeks with NO accidents and dry at night! He has earned trains, assorted toys, a bubble gum machine, a dance wand, a robot ray gun, and more candy than I wish to admit to you, BUT these are really cute.

Kim bought this for Emmett a long time ago and now Kenzie fits in it- we did a little photo shoot and she really showed off her expressive nature.

She is finally sleeping 7-8 hour stretches at night!!! She is able to sit unassisted for short periods of time- can't leave the room unless she is sitting in a boppy pillow. She is a little grumpy with her tooth coming through but overall a very smiley baby. She loves her crinkle toys and anything with ribbons or tags. She LOVES Emmett- and grabs at him when he is near. She pretends to cough- especially to get daddy's attention since he coughs a lot. (she copies him) She is getting ready for her first xmas and just wants toys that DON'T interest her big brother. (He is always taking her toys away.)

It has been about 2 yrs since Bubba's last visit to Colorado so, Emmett was very excited to have Bubba come play. We spent time together this past weekend going to the zoo, walking 16th street mall and eating out at a few restaurants. We met Pam for the first time. Bubba and Pam married about 6 months ago. Bubba's children, Carson and Alex, also live in Denver now so it was fun to be ALL together.

Kenzie starts solids. She had her first taste of rice cereal on November first. She seemed to like it and kept grabbing the spoon. She would suck all the cereal off the spoon at each bite. (Emmett never liked the rice cereal so we skipped that stage for him) We also introduced peas but she wished we didn't. oh well, we will keep trying some vegetables and see what she thinks. She has also started some sign language. She responds to the sign for milk already, so we believe she will catch on pretty fast. So far, she is a lot of fun, a ton of smiles and a great napper. Unfortunately, she still likes to wake up every two hours at night too. Can't have it all, I suppose.

What an amazing time to be an American. This is the first time the person I voted for actually won the Presidency. Last night, we watched the polls come in with Candice and Steve Magyar and we were all taken by his speech, the hope and the emotion of this election.

Emmett hugged the TV screen when the great news was announced. He had his hands on his face, saying "I cannot believe it. Bamack Omamma WON! I knew it, mom." And he did, if you check out You tube Emmett declares his support for the President-elect, Barack Obama.

We are so proud to be a part of this moment in history. Hope is alive and well here at the Magyar house.

Emmett had quite a Halloween this year. We went to 5 Halloween events. At Sewall school, Christine's pumpkin play date, The Children's Museum Boo fest, Trick or Treatin' with the Sloans and Colfax Trick or Treating with the Murphy's! He wanted to be a zebra again this year so I wasn't planning to buy a costume for him, but one day he decided he was going to be a zebra that turns into a bat. (there were sound effects to this request-it sounded a little like... Fff. Fff. Fffffff.) SO I found a five dollar bat costume and he got to switch wearing them depending on the day. He also wore some of his pirate costume on the really unseasonably warm day while trick or treating on Colfax. Wes made him a cool moustache and goatee as well. But funny enough, I don't ever wear eye makeup, so all I had was a purple eyeliner pencil- so he looked a little like the purple villain from strawberry shortcake.

Last night, we went to Arvada to The Sloan's house and trick or treated in their little neighborhood. We had so much fun and Wes and I realized we had officially felt like parents- I think Trick or Treating with the kids is some sort of parental milestone or something. Kenzie also got in on the action dressing up as a ballerina and a polar bear. (We are pretty sure we saw Sarah Palin hunting from a helicopter, but Kenzie was well protected.)

We went berry picking with the whole Magyar family. It was fun, a lot of work and a bit pricey, but YUM! Emmett ate about a whole basket of raspberries before we left the patch. He would tell us the berries were disappearing into his belly- magic! It was cute and saved us some money!

Wes, Ryan and E went to see THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE! Emmett was a little feverish this day but he couldn't miss seeing Thomas so the boys went to ride everyone's favorite blue engine. E had seen the commercials on PBS and he would tell me, "Mom, Thomas is coming to Colorado to see ME!" so naturally we could not deny our boy from a day out with Thomas even if he was sick, especially at $18.00 a ticket pre-paid.

We spent a beautiful day walking around the zoo on my birthday. I think I would have rather done something for me, BUT when the kids are happy so am I. So, we rode the carousel twice! We watched two brave people feed the hippo a cake. We had treats too. Kenzie is learning to self soothe by sucking her fingers and Emmett self soothes by eating ice cream. YUM.

That's me in the caboose. The things I do for Emmett.

OK, I am always giving updates on the kids and there was a small request for how I am doing so here it is. At 33 years old I am back in school, attending CU Denver for a masters in Early Childhood Education with a license in Special Education. I am still on maternity leave at Sewall until November 3rd! Three is sort of a family magic number right now- I am 33, Wes is 32, Emmett is 3, Kenzie is 3 months and 33 days.

My hair is over 22 inches long, thanks to the prenatal vitamins. I weigh more than I want to at 133 lb. and 5 ft 2 inches tall. Which makes me in the 27th percentile in weight and 19% for height for a white adult female. (yes, I looked it up) I am NOT sleeping through the night.

I am EXHAUSTED and I could not be happier. I have a beautiful and healthy family and they are my ultimate joy. I enjoy riding the kiddie train, swimming in water too cold, going to the zoo on MY birthday, watching PBS instead of the Today show, peeing with the door open, laughing at Emmett just to get him to eat two more bites of dinner, waking 3 and 4 times a night to feed Kenzie, jumping around like a scarecrow to get her to smile, In fact I would do anything to make my children happy and most of the time I do. I could not be more blessed to be here in Denver with Wes and our amazing children.

Emmett has officially moved to the upstairs class- the zebra room. He is one of ten typical children learning along side with 5 kids with autism. He is in a 3-5 year age group and seems to be thrilled that he is a big boy. We tried to motivate him to potty train but he seems very content to use his diapers - because Kenzie does.
